Yobe police inspector fatally stabs man

The Yobe State Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Ahmed, has officially ordered an immediate investigation into a tragic homicide case involving Inspector Mohammed Bulama, a member of the Police Mobile Force, 41 Division, located in Damaturu, the state capital.

According to a report by PUNCH Online, a press release was issued on Tuesday by DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the Public Relations Officer of the Yobe Police Command, detailing the events that took place on September 29, 2024, around 6:20 p.m. It was reported that Inspector Mohammed Bulama, 38, engaged in a heated argument with Abdulmalik Dauda, also known as Baksha, 39, from Pompomari Ward, Damaturu, due to an unresolved transaction in the Zango Area.

The confrontation quickly escalated into a physical altercation, during which Bulama allegedly stabbed Dauda in the chest, leading to his death. In the same scuffle, Bulama himself sustained head injuries.

Following the incident, Bulama was arrested after seeking refuge at the ‘C’ Divisional Police Headquarters in Damaturu. The state’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) immediately launched an investigation into the matter, and Bulama is currently in custody awaiting internal disciplinary procedures and prosecution.

CP Garba Ahmed strongly condemned Bulama's violent actions and extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of Abdulmalik Dauda, expressing deep regret over the unfortunate incident. He assured the public that the police force would conduct a comprehensive and swift investigation to ensure justice is served.

Ahmed emphasized that the Nigeria Police Force will not tolerate any form of misconduct from its personnel. He assured the public that appropriate actions will be taken to hold the perpetrator accountable and provide justice to the victim’s family.

“The Nigeria Police Force will not tolerate any misconduct from its personnel. We will ensure that justice is served and the perpetrator is held accountable,” Ahmed stated.
