A young Nigerian lady recently shared an extraordinary and unexpected encounter she had with a quick-thinking 10-year-old mechanic who came to her rescue during a challenging moment on her journey.
The lady, identified as @TheQueenAminat on X (formerly Twitter), narrated the surprising incident that left her stranded and in urgent need of help, detailing the events that unfolded as she was traveling to Ifo, Ogun State. She initially planned to drive part of the way and then switch to a keke for the remainder of her trip.
According to her post, she parked her car near a bank in Sango to briefly speak with the security guard. To her dismay, she soon realized she’d accidentally locked herself out, leaving the car’s engine running with her bag and phone inside. Stuck without her belongings at around 6:46 a.m., she found herself in a challenging predicament with no mechanic nearby.
In a bid to find assistance, she asked a young girl in the area if she knew any mechanic. In a surprising turn of events, the girl returned within a few minutes, bringing along a young boy around 10 or 11 years old who identified himself as a mechanic and offered to help.
How a 10-year-old mechanic saved me
“Oh boy! Something unusual happened to me this morning. I was heading to ifo, so I decided to drive half way and keke the rest of my journey.
I parked in front of one of the banks at Sango, came down to talk to security and boom, I had locked myself out with the engine running 😭😭, my phones and bag were locked in. It was 6.46 a.m., where will I see a mechanic or panel this early morning?
I approached a young girl if she knew any mechanic, and she said yes. In less than 10 minutes, she came with a boy of her age range, about 10 or 11 years old. He said he’s a mechanic, I explained my predicament to him, and he said he would be right back.
In less than a minute, he returned, pulled out a key from his pocket, and unlocked my car. I was shocked! I thought he would use a long thin tool or something similar.
Considering I had a journey ahead, a sense of fear crept in as I worried about the security of my car in the area. I pleaded with the bank security guard to keep an eye on my vehicle while I completed my trip.
Thankfully, when I returned to Sango, I found my car safe and sound, untouched. Lagos way!
I’m now back home, and Alhamdulillah, everything worked out fine.”
