A woman has taken to social media to share her experience regarding a recent sermon from her pastor, which she claims drastically changed her husband’s behavior—from good to worse.
In a post on her Facebook page, the woman explained that during a church service, her pastor delivered a sermon focused on how couples should treat each other, specifically emphasizing how wives should communicate with their husbands.
According to the woman, the pastor preached that women should always be calm and gentle when speaking to their husbands. He also advised wives to be mindful of their husband’s mood before voicing their opinions and to massage their men’s egos in conversations. The message seemed to stress that a wife’s ability to communicate in a submissive and careful manner would determine how much love and attention she received from her husband.
She revealed that immediately after hearing this sermon, her husband’s attitude changed significantly. As soon as they left church, he handed over their five-month-old baby—who was already asleep—to her, despite seeing that she was occupied with her responsibilities as a church worker. She mentioned that his demeanor suddenly became cold, and he began acting differently toward her.
The woman further expressed her frustration, stating that since hearing the sermon, her husband has been behaving in a way that makes her uncomfortable. She recalled an incident where he refused to help with their child simply because she had responded to a statement he made before they left for church. She noted that his mood worsened after the pastor’s sermon, and he used the message as an excuse to show his displeasure toward her, even carrying his frustration into the evening.
Feeling deeply affected by her husband’s sudden change in behavior, the woman admitted that she is now considering leaving her church due to the negative impact the sermon has had on her marriage.
She wrote: “Like my pastor preach today that as a woman, you should be calm and gentle when talking to your husband or fiancé. When you want to state your opinion about things, you should watch his mood, caress his ego before you make your opinion known; if not, men should not listen or love their wives.
“My family people ooo, immediately my husband heard that statement, he that was holding his 5-month-old baby, who was sleeping, threw the child at me, and I asked him why? He gave me a bad look. He refused to hold the child, leaving me to juggle my church work and care for our baby at the same time. Before we left for church, he made a statement, and I replied to it. The moment he heard the pastor’s words, he took it as a reason to show his displeasure. Even till this evening, he is still angry.”
