This heartbreaking incident was brought to public attention by a netizen identified as @TheSerahIbrahim on X, formerly known as Twitter. She had initially shared the lady's plight and requested financial assistance from the public in September to help cover the costs of medical treatment for the kidney condition.

@TheSerahIbrahim's initial plea had garnered significant attention, and people from across social media contributed funds to support the lady, Joyce, who was fighting for her life due to complications from kidney failure.

Sadly, just a few months after the campaign, Serah announced the devastating news of Joyce's passing. She revealed that Joyce’s husband had taken the donated money and deposited it into his personal account. Instead of ensuring Joyce received proper medical treatment, he allegedly removed her from the hospital and took her to a church where prayers and herbal remedies were administered instead of standard medical care.

According to @TheSerahIbrahim, the situation deteriorated further as Joyce's health continued to decline. Despite Joyce expressing that she was feeling worse, her husband and the pastor reportedly insisted that she had been healed and was improving, ignoring her worsening condition.

@TheSerahIbrahim expressed her heartbreak and anger in her post, writing …

“Thank you everyoneSadly we lost Joyce today.

The money we were donating was taken by her husband into his personal account while he took her out from the hospital and took her to a CHURCH where the pastor said they can deliver her. They took her from the hospital to a fcking Church and were praying and giving her Agbo, for KIDNEY PROBLEM.

She’s dead and the phone conversations and voice notes I have will not just break you but piss you off.She literally said she was not okay and was getting worse while her husband and the pastor were claiming she has been healed and was getting better. The Nigerian Police needs to start arresting Pastors. Enough is Enough. We lost her today 💔.”

The story has sparked widespread anger and calls for justice, with many demanding accountability from both the husband and the religious leaders involved. Several netizens also criticized the husband’s alleged decision to prioritize personal beliefs over his wife's medical needs, which they argue led to her untimely death.
