A young Nigerian lady has openly shared her frustration and heartbreak after experiencing multiple failed marriage promises from her boyfriend, who relocated to Canada several years ago. The lady, known on social media as @kaybee_ng on TikTok, recounted the emotional toll of waiting for a future that seems increasingly uncertain.
In her heartfelt video post, she revealed that her boyfriend left for Canada over three years ago, just a few months after they started dating. At the time, they had agreed to marry upon his return, envisioning a shared future that would soon reunite them. However, as the years have passed, he has continued to ask for “more time,” leaving her feeling stuck and unsure of the relationship’s direction.
Expressing her disappointment and uncertainty, she wrote, “I’m not even getting any younger, and all he keeps saying is, ‘Give me more time.’ My man traveled just months into dating each other. We were both happy and made promises to wait for each other. If only I had known. I would never have made promises to wait… I’d never make a promise to any man again in my life. Because of the promise, I’m stuck!”
The situation is particularly challenging for her because, while she has had other men express serious interest in marriage, she feels unable to move on. She lamented, “I’ve other men who are willing to start something serious with me, men who want marriage, but I can’t just move on. I can’t!! Every year he keeps saying he’ll come home in December, and when it’s time, he comes up with excuses. Now, another December is approaching, and here’s what he’s to say again. Should I wait till I’m 30 FGS.”
Reflecting on the challenges of long-distance relationships, she acknowledged that they require immense patience, commitment, and trust, but questioned what to do when “the vision isn’t clear” and there is little certainty about their future. “I know long-distance relationships require lots of patience, commitment, and trust. How about when the vision isn’t clear? What can one possibly do???😫,” she added.
