A US-based Nigerian lady has shared a shocking experience involving an entitled individual in Nigeria who rejected a $90 cash gift she was sending to help out a friend in need. The story, shared by social media user @Aynana24 on the X platform, has since gone viral, sparking reactions online.
In her post, Aynana explained how she was trying to assist a friend by transferring money through her app to a friend’s acquaintance in Lagos. However, she was met with unexpected hostility from the recipient.
Aynana had agreed to help a friend who was unable to log into her app due to being late for work. Her friend handed her $90 and provided the acquaintance’s contact details, requesting that Aynana send the money on her behalf. Aynana contacted the recipient, explaining who the money was from and how much was being sent, only to be met with an ungrateful response.
The recipient, according to Aynana, responded with an attitude, asking, “Is that all she gave you?” in a tone she described as “the most stinky attitude.”
Aynana didn’t take kindly to the response and decided to stand her ground. She retorted, asking the recipient if she was owed the money or if it was simply financial assistance being provided.
“I had to drop off a friend at work becos her car was at the shop for maintenance. As soon as I pulled up at her job, she gave me $90 to help her use my app to send money to her friend in Lasgidi becos the friend needed some financial assistance.
She could not log in to her own app, and she was already running late, so she gave me the friend’s number to contact her for her account details to enable me to transfer the money directly via the app.
I contacted that one, and told her who sent me and how much I was told to send to her
The friend: Ehn is me, is that all she gave you? (she said it with the most stinky attitude)
Me: Err sorry, does she owe you or helping you with financial assistance?
I immediately told her not to worry and ended the conversation.
Aynana was taken aback by the rude response and decided to inform her friend about the exchange. She texted her friend during her lunch break to let her know what had happened. Her friend was equally shocked and told Aynana to transfer the $90 to her brother instead. As a result, Aynana blocked the entitled recipient and told her friend what had transpired.
The recipient continued trying to contact Aynana through WhatsApp, but Aynana wasn’t having it. She considered responding with anger, even typing a message saying, “witch don’t call or text me,” but ultimately deleted it and blocked the person as well.
Aynana concluded her post with a statement about how she felt the behavior was utterly inappropriate, calling it “very dirty behavior.” Many viewers have since reacted to the situation, with some criticizing the recipient’s entitlement and others praising Aynana for standing her ground.
