On March 27, 2023, a group of women belonging to the Free Nigeria Movement protested at the US Embassy in Abuja. The protest was against alleged fraud during the 2023 presidential election. Some of the women were partially topless while others were clothed, demonstrating their resentment and pleading for action to be taken. The protesters held placards demanding that the US Government impose a visa ban on those responsible for instigating violence during the election. It is noteworthy that Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC was declared the winner of the presidential election on February 25 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). However, despite claims of electoral fraud and rigging in various parts of the country, the closest challengers, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Peter Obi of the Labour Party have both filed petitions with the Election Tribunal to pursue their grievances.
