Pwajok Jane Kangyang, a Medicine and Surgery student, has etched her name in the history of the University of Jos (UniJos) by becoming the institution’s first female Students Union Government (SUG) President.
Her groundbreaking achievement comes 49 years after the establishment of the university, marking a significant milestone in UniJos's history. Her victory has been met with widespread celebration and commendations from her peers, friends, and the university community.
Following her electoral success, several students and well-wishers have taken to social media to laud her resilience, leadership qualities, and determination. They described her victory as a momentous step towards gender inclusivity in leadership within the institution.
One of her colleagues, Dakak Christopher, shared his heartfelt congratulations, writing:
“Congratulations on your historic win! FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT OF THE UNIVERSITY OF JOS STUDENT UNION GOVERNMENT. May your reign be blissful!”
Another supporter commented:
