The University of Calabar has taken the step to suspend Prof Cyril Ndifon, the dean of the Faculty of Law, due to alleged sexual harassment of female students. The suspension, conveyed in a letter dated August 17, 2023, and signed by the university's registrar, Gabriel Egbe, was a result of Ndifon's violation of the institution's laws and policies. This is not the first time Ndifon has faced such allegations; back in 2015, he was arrested, detained, and suspended for similar accusations. Recently, female law students protested on campus, demanding his removal and carrying placards with messages such as "Ndifon must go!" The Vice Chancellor's dissatisfaction with Ndifon's response to a query led to his removal as dean and placement on suspension. An investigation panel will be set up to look into the allegations. Ndifon is required to hand over university property and stay away from the campus during the investigation.
