A lady residing in the UK has opened up about the reactions she received from her friend in Nigeria after sending her N30K as part of preparations for her mother’s funeral.
In a video shared on TikTok by @jane_peterz, the lady revealed that she called her friend to confirm if the money transfer was successful. However, to her surprise, her friend expressed dissatisfaction with the amount sent.
According to the lady, her friend confirmed receiving the money but remarked that she had been expecting a larger sum. When questioned further, her friend mentioned that she was expecting an amount between N150K and N200K.
Reacting to her friend's response, the lady shared her frustration, saying: “I wanted to cry. I don’t know why people assume those living abroad are plucking money from trees. I never had that mentality even when I was back home in Africa.”
She went on to explain the challenges of living abroad, highlighting the toll of long working hours, unpaid breaks, transportation issues, and high living expenses. She added: “On top of 12-hour shifts, 1-hour unpaid breaks, train cancellations, bus delays, council tax, electricity, water, and house expenses, it’s exhausting. Everyone needs to go abroad! Maybe that will help them understand.”
