Two students from the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) and Kogi State Polytechnic have tragically lost their lives in a road accident in Kogi State.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Friday, resulting in the deaths of two female students. The accident took place when a heavily loaded articulated vehicle, which was headed toward Abuja, lost control and collided with a tricycle (commonly known as Keke NAPEP) that was transporting passengers towards the main town.
Reports indicate that the victims were among four passengers in the tricycle. While two others suffered severe injuries, the two students were unable to survive the impact of the collision, which led to their tragic deaths.
Authorities from the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) promptly responded to the scene and rushed the injured survivors to the State Specialist Hospital in Lokoja for immediate medical care.
In a statement of condolence, the National Association of Science Laboratory Technology (Kogi State Polytechnic chapter) confirmed the heartbreaking news of the death of Taiwo Abimbola, one of the students involved in the accident. The university community has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of these young lives.
