Pa Monday Igbinidu, a veteran Edo singer, has taken legal action against up-and-coming singer Shallipopi for allegedly illegally sampling his song "Obapluto" (N'ogbaisi). The lawsuit amounts to a staggering N200M. This legal dispute arose after Pa Monday called out Shallipopi and his mother for allegedly deceiving him by offering him N50K after the song had already been recorded and released. Despite being given a week to address the issue and acknowledge Pa Monday on the song, the legal team representing the veteran singer filed a lawsuit against Shallipopi for copyright infringement. The lawsuit document titled "Copyright infringement of the musical work of Monday Edosomwan Igbinidu alias Monday Edo Igbinidu - Demand to render account, compensation, and an apology" seeks substantial compensation for the alleged copyright violation.
