Two secondary school students have been apprehended by the Ondo State Security Network Agency for staging their own kidnapping. The students faked their own kidnapping as a means to extort money from their mother. The incident took place in Oka-Akoko, the headquarters of Akoko South-West Local Council in Ondo State. After three days of hiding, the two female students, aged 13 and 15, were caught and later confessed to the crime at the state headquarters of the Amotekun Corps in Akure, the state capital. The siblings, who are in JSS 3 and SSS 1, respectively, claimed that they intended to retaliate against their mother, whom they accused of mistreating them. The Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, announced that an investigation has been launched to determine the underlying reasons for their actions. Additionally, a total of 28 other individuals were apprehended in various parts of the state through the joint efforts of the Amotekun Corps, the military, and other security agencies. Adeleye emphasized that these efforts are part of ongoing initiatives to eradicate kidnapping in Ondo State, and he revealed that the agency is also working on cases involving high-profile individuals who were allegedly kidnapped.
