A Nigerian man has reportedly been jailed after exposing a pastor who allegedly hires people to give fake testimonies in his church. The revelation came to light after a woman attending the same church was caught fabricating a testimony, claiming that she had purchased a house worth ₦500 million.

This incident was revealed through a post shared on the widely-used social media platform, X (formerly known as Twitter). According to the post, the woman in question had attended the church led by Pastor Ebuka Obi, where she publicly testified that God’s divine intervention had blessed her with the ability to buy a ₦500 million house. However, this testimony was later debunked, with claims emerging that Pastor Ebuka Obi had orchestrated a series of fake testimonies and prophecies within his church, leading to a growing controversy about his practices.

The woman’s testimony about purchasing the multi-million naira house due to divine blessings was exposed as false. Following this revelation, a statement began circulating on social media, alleging that Pastor Ebuka Obi had previously arranged for a Nigerian man to be thrown into prison for exposing the fake prophecies and staged testimonies taking place in his church. The statement suggested that the man had been imprisoned through the help of corrupt magistrates and police officers, who were allegedly working with Pastor Ebuka Obi to suppress the truth.

In a statement posted on social media, the woman who had testified falsely wrote: “This is exactly what @IjeleSpeaks2 has been saying about Ebuka Obi. It’s now been a year since Ebuka, with the help of some corrupt magistrates and police officers, threw an innocent man in prison — all because he exposed the fake testimonies in Ebuka’s church.” She further added, “They kept him in prison for a whole year without taking him to court to prove his innocence.”

As the post gained traction, many concerned individuals and social media users began reacting, expressing outrage at the alleged injustice. The woman’s post also tagged several prominent figures, which further drew attention to the case, and the post quickly went viral, sparking widespread discussions on the matter.

Some Nigerians shared their reactions to the case in the comment section, highlighting their concerns and opinions on the matter. Below are some of the reactions from social media users who joined the conversation:

@_chiefagbabiaka: “Now is the time for all to come together and speak against Ebuka and everyone join hands together with him for this evil act.”

@OlumoRoxx: “It’s a shame he is still in prison. Why was he abandoned and forgotten? Why are his people or family not fighting for his release? Can @egi_nupe___ please help look into this? Please.”

@speciee: “I remember a post one time when it was said that Ijele said he prefers Adeyanju to be his lawyer.. and things went south from there.”

@bigNenye: “Ebuka Obi is real and this woman will join him in prison too.”

@UR_VILAGEPEOPLE: “That’s wrong! I am not a fan of Ebuka and don’t even know him, but that guy was locked up for a crime of trafficking.”

@sweetbelarosy: “All blame goes to the blaze lawyer he’s using. How can someone reasonable be using Adeyanju to defend him?”

@bubbleburstee: “Ijele is in jail for human trafficking, not because of Pastor Ebuka. Stop looking for ways to bring down IGBOs preachers. Go for Yoruba pastors in human rituals and skull mining.”

@emenikeemmanue6: “Ijele was actually an idiot and illiterate that came off Facebook and threatened to kill Ebuka, even demonstrated how he would do it. Of course, he should be sued to court, and the legal process should follow.”
