The authorities of NYSC have reportedly expelled a corps member in Oyo state after he posted a tweet criticizing one of the scheme's hostels and calling for the abolition of the program.
The corper, using the Twitter handle @anthonystilldey, was stationed at the Iseyin camp in Oyo state. He recorded a video of the condition of one of the camp's hostels and shared it online. In his tweet, he compared his hostel, named Ajimobi hostel, to a Nigerian prison and advocated for the dismantling of the NYSC program.
He wrote, "Kirikiri >>> Ajimobi hostel. So I'll be here for three weeks. Scrap NYSC now!" His tweet quickly gained traction and caught the attention of NYSC officials.
Reports online indicate that as a consequence of his viral tweet, the corper was dismissed from the camp. A related post with more details was also shared on social media.
