A Nigerian married woman has shared a candid reflection on marriage, advising single ladies to appreciate their current phase of life before tying the knot. She used her own experience as an example to highlight the challenges of married life, particularly the responsibilities that come with it.
In a video that surfaced online, the woman was seen standing in her kitchen, still dressed in her elegant Sunday church outfit, as she lamented about the realities of marriage. She expressed how demanding it can be, explaining that marriage often comes with expectations that are not always easy to fulfill.
According to her, single ladies often enjoy being pampered by their boyfriends, with some men going the extra mile to cook and serve them meals. However, she pointed out that after marriage, the dynamic changes significantly, and wives are expected to take on daily cooking responsibilities.
She particularly lamented how she couldn’t even change out of her church attire before heading straight into the kitchen to prepare a meal for her husband. She emphasized that many unmarried women do not realize the freedom they currently have, urging them to be grateful.
In her words, she said:
“You don’t know what God has done for you if you’re not married. I just came back from church. I didn’t even take off my clothes and I’m here in the kitchen cooking.”
Her remarks have since sparked discussions on social media, with netizens sharing mixed reactions. While some agreed with her take on the responsibilities of married life, others argued that marriage dynamics depend on individual relationships and mutual understanding between partners.
