A national youth service corps member, Tayachibiyacha Ebal, who was deployed to Kebbi State, tragically slumped and died at the Dakin Gari NYSC orientation camp.
According to reports from Gistreel, the corps member collapsed unexpectedly while at the camp and was immediately rushed to the camp clinic for urgent medical attention. Medical personnel at the camp made efforts to stabilize her condition before deciding to transfer her to the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kebbi, for more advanced medical attention.
Despite the concerted efforts by doctors and medical staff to resuscitate her, the corps member sadly passed away, leaving her fellow corps members, NYSC officials, and family members devastated by the incident.
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Kebbi State, Alhaji Muhammad Fingila, confirmed the unfortunate incident while speaking to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi. He revealed that the remains of the deceased corps member have been sent to her home state, Adamawa, for burial and proper rites in accordance with her family’s wishes.
Alhaji Fingila expressed his deep sorrow over the loss, describing it as a tragic and unfortunate incident. He extended heartfelt condolences to the grieving family on behalf of the Kebbi State Government and assured that all necessary protocols had been observed regarding the situation. He further prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved family during this difficult time.
This incident has once again highlighted the need for constant monitoring of corps members’ health and the importance of providing adequate medical facilities within NYSC orientation camps across the country.
