One Nigerian man took to social media to express his disappointment and frustration after realizing that the cost of renting a house he had estimated to be N2.8 million would actually amount to N7.3 million, due to an additional power charge of N2.1 million. According to the man, after seeing the rent amount, he quickly deposited the N2.8 million and began furnishing the flat in anticipation of moving in. However, after doing more research, he discovered that there was an additional service charge of N2.1 million, which he was required to pay on top of the rent. This brought the total amount he had to pay to N4.9 million.

But that wasn't all. As a remote worker who spends most of his time at home, he expected to have a significant electricity bill, given that he has a chandelier, an 86-inch TV, and other high-consuming electrical appliances. The electricity consumption rate is N305/KW, which would amount to about N300k/month. However, he could reduce this cost to N200k/month if he invested in an inverter. When he added the cost of electricity to his already high rental and service charges, the final amount he had to pay came to N7.3 million, which was way beyond what he had initially budgeted for.

The man expressed his disappointment and frustration on Twitter, saying he couldn't even ask for a refund since he had already started furnishing the house and had other expenses to take care of. He revealed that the cost of furnishing the apartment would take an additional N10 million. He was left wondering why the real estate company had so many celebrity tenants, but he later realized that it was due to their ability to afford the high costs.

The man's story highlights the importance of doing thorough research before making any financial commitments, especially when it comes to renting or buying property. It is crucial to know all the hidden costs associated with a property before making any payments, to avoid unexpected and unpleasant surprises like this man experienced.
