The mother of the 3-year-old boy who was subjected to abuse by a teacher, identified as Mrs. Stella Nwadigo, has spoken out about the ongoing maltreatment her son has experienced under her care. The traumatic incident, which occurred at a private school in Ikorodu where the child’s mother also works, has ignited public outrage after a video surfaced online, showing the teacher inflicting pain on the child.
In a heartfelt interview conducted in Yoruba, the distressed mother opened up about her sorrow and the emotional toll the repeated abuse has had on her son. She shared her painful account, saying, “I am also a worker in the school where the teacher beat my son. This was not the first time she would be doing such a thing. I had reported the abuse to the school authorities, but unfortunately, they failed to take any action. I am left to handle this on my own as his father is no longer with us. I do menial jobs to take care of my family. I am asking for justice for my son, and I also ask Nigerians to support me in ensuring a better education for him.”
Despite the numerous challenges she faces, the mother's emotional plea has shed light on the difficulties of being a single parent, and her relentless determination to secure a brighter future for her child despite her circumstances. Her story has captured the hearts of many, and there has been an outpouring of support from the public, with numerous individuals calling for swift justice and offering their assistance for the boy’s education. The community's response has sparked hope that this tragedy will not only lead to justice but also to meaningful changes in how child abuse is handled in schools.
