A masquerade has stirred online chatter after refusing to engage with a Nigerian military man.
While some masquerades are notorious for whipping civilians, this particular masquerade appears to show respect for authority by adamantly avoiding any interaction with the soldier.
In a recorded exchange, the military man challenges the masquerade to strike him, but the masquerade declines, questioning why he would beat someone of higher rank, referring to him as "oga" (boss or master).
The masquerade adds that it was among the group that danced for the soldier the previous day. The soldier responds with laughter, suggesting that had the masquerade touched him, there would have been consequences.
