A married woman has been left devastated after discovering that she is HIV positive, despite never having engaged in an extramarital affair or any form of infidelity throughout her marriage.
She shared her heartbreaking experience on a relationship platform, seeking advice and emotional support from concerned individuals.
According to her account, she recently secured a well-paying job that required her and her immediate family to undergo a routine annual medical test as part of the company’s health policy.
To her utter shock and disbelief, the test results showed that she was HIV positive, while her husband and child tested negative for the virus.
The woman expressed her confusion, stating that she has never in her life been involved in any extramarital affair and has no idea how she could have contracted the virus.
She poured out her heart in a lengthy emotional message, detailing her fears, uncertainties, and the pain of keeping such a distressing secret from her family.
She wrote …
“Oba, I cannot even tell exactly what moment this period is in my life. I feel like I should end things and let it all go to save face and spare my family from this shame. I got a nice job two years ago, and it has been a great relief to my husband because he had been carrying the biggest financial load for about three years.
We are required to undergo an annual medical test at my workplace, which is provided for free and also covers our immediate family. So, I encouraged my husband to come along with our child to get tested as well.
Oba, I swear with my entire life and the lives of my children that I have never cheated on my husband or even been tempted to do so, not even for a moment. But to my amazement, I tested HIV positive, while every other person in my family tested negative.
My company has now relieved me of my job because of this, but I cannot bring myself to tell my husband the truth, so I lied that I was on leave. I cry every day once they have all left the house. I have just two weeks left until my supposed ‘leave’ ends, and I still don’t know what to do. My head is blank, and my heart is unbearably heavy.”
