A large group of market women in Delta State, Nigeria, took matters into their own hands as they seized the equipment of a pastor who was preaching in the market after he allegedly insulted them during his sermon. According to one of the market women, the pastor insulted the Urhobo women, referring to them as “goats.”
She said, “A pastor came here, he was preaching, and then he said all the market women, all the Urhobo women here, are goats. That’s why we gathered here. Even including his mother, he said she’s a goat too.”
The situation escalated as some of the market women lifted the pastor’s speakers in protest.
