A man identified as Nnanna reportedly stabbed his 65-year-old caretaker, Mr. Monday, in an attack where he accused the elderly man of practicing wizardry and causing him misfortune.
The incident occurred on Wednesday at 37 Okwelle Street, in the Mile 2 Diobu area of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Rivers State.
Reports indicate that Nnanna stabbed Mr. Monday on the neck and head, claiming the caretaker was responsible for his perceived troubles. Nnanna has since fled the scene and is currently at large, with authorities initiating a search to locate him.
Speaking about the incident, Mr. Monday, who is still in pain, recounted how the suspect first attacked him on Tuesday night, breaking a bottle and stabbing him in the neck. He described how Nnanna returned the following morning and stabbed him on the head without provocation.
Mr. Monday stated, “I am the caretaker of 37 Okwelle Street, Mile 2 Diobu. Nnanna stabbed me. We were packing sand, and I asked him to move aside so we could finish the work. He got upset and asked me if I didn’t know he thought I was a wizard. He said he had a grudge against me and that he would kill me and run away.”
He continued, “He picked up a bottle, smashed it, and stabbed me on the neck on Tuesday night. Then, early this morning, he broke into my house and stabbed me on the head.”
Mr. Monday has reported the incident to the Azikiwe Police Division, who are now handling the case and pursuing any leads that might lead to Nnanna’s apprehension.
