A heartbreaking story has surfaced online, as a Nigerian man recounts how his wife, whom he financially supported through university and provided with a car, ended their marriage at a UK airport in an unexpected and painful manner, leaving him stranded.

The emotional account, which gained traction through a viral video on X (formerly Twitter), details how the man stood by his wife's side from the beginning, supporting her education at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and eventually working towards their dream of relocating abroad for a better future.

According to him, his wife initially suggested moving to Canada, a plan that didn’t materialize. She later proposed relocating to the United Kingdom, which she pursued first, before he joined her with their children at a later time.

Upon his arrival in the UK on October 7, he contacted his wife to inform her that he and the children had landed safely. However, to his shock, she arrived at the airport accompanied by six friends. Some of them were instructed to take their children to a nearby shopping complex, seemingly under the pretense of giving them a meal.

In a dramatic and unexpected turn of events, she then asked to check their passports, claiming she wanted to ensure they had been properly stamped upon arrival. Without hesitation, he handed the passports to her, unaware of what was about to happen. Moments later, she discreetly removed the children’s passports from the stack, returned his passport to him, and dropped a bombshell—their marriage was over.

The devastated man, still in shock, tried to seek an explanation, but his wife simply responded, “I’m done with you.”

He described the moment, stating:

“When we got married, she was still in her first year at UNILAG. I took care of her, ensured she completed her education, bought her a car, and did everything I could as a husband.”

“She initially wanted us to move to Canada, but when that plan didn’t work, she suggested the UK. I agreed, and she traveled first.”

“When I arrived in the UK on October 7 with our children, I immediately called her. She showed up at the airport with six of her friends, and I noticed she was using crutches, with her right leg in a cast. When I asked what had happened, she said she had suffered a domestic accident.”

“She sent four of her friends to take our children to a nearby shopping mall under the guise of getting them food. Then she asked to check our passports, pretending to verify the stamps. I handed them over without thinking twice. Before I knew it, she had taken the children’s passports, handed mine back, and told me our marriage was over.”

“I stood there, speechless, not knowing what to do. I asked her what the problem was, but she just repeated, ‘I’m done with you.’”

As the story continued to spread, social media users reacted with mixed emotions, sharing their opinions on the incident.

See some reactions below:

@pawpawsk: “I don’t pity him.. He must have seen the signs but totally chose to ignore.”

@shaw4116: “I have no sympathy. The signs are always there. The reality is before you marry someone, you have to find out how they react in difficult circumstances.”

@Three16: “MEN, please plan for your old age and retirement very well, starting today, no matter how young you are. MEN, always take charge. God made you the leader of the home for a reason.”

@OMALISA5: “Men are judging, but they are not asking what led to her decision….until we know the whole truth…judge not.”

@BangerOdds: “The death hunting to kiiii you took the cap. Are you not supposed to be grateful and move on? What does she mean by ‘it was more of a spiritual battle she fought, and she needs deliverance to win her back’? Defending an intentional act as spiritual? How na?”

@IykeNwafor3: “The real sad thing in all of this is the lies this woman will tell the children about their father to justify what she did, that is if he truly is their father.”

@jidebibi: “The man should thank God that the woman did not plan to frame him or set him up for jail. He should move on with his life and never consider reconciling with her. Never beg a woman who is already tired of a marriage.”

@TVNDEY: “My little experience with women has taught me never to let my guard down. A woman can do whatever she wants once she makes up her mind, without considering the effect on you. Ignore the signs, and your life will be ruined unexpectedly.”

@Princedommm: “Forget deliverance, why would he want to go back to her after all that? She’s definitely seeing someone else.”

@YakubTijani2: “Women are always strategic when making decisions. They think far ahead of men. The best time to marry a woman is when she has already accomplished things and is in her natural environment. As long as she still needs something from you, you’ll never truly understand her motives.”
