Joshua, a Nigerian man, has gained attention on Twitter after he shared the extra measures he has put in place to ensure he does not cheat on his wife. According to Joshua, it is almost impossible to be faithful in the way the world is set up. However, men who want to be faithful have to be extra smart. In a Twitter thread, Joshua listed out the extra measures he had to put in place to ensure he does not get tempted to cheat on his wife.
Firstly, an image of what is at stake is always on Joshua's mind. His smartwatch, phone, laptop, WhatsApp DP, and chat wallpaper are always a picture of his wife or his wife and daughter. This reminds him that their huge smiles can turn upside down with just one mistake.
Secondly, Joshua is accountable to his wife. She is signed into his email account, his social media accounts and she has the password to his phone. Anywhere that the temptation wants to come from in an online form, it cannot hide. Sin thrives in secrecy.
Thirdly, Joshua makes sure to bring up his wife in every conversation he has with the opposite sex. If the relationship is the counseling type, the person must know his wife. Every counseling session must take place with his wife close by. If she’s unavailable that day, counseling won’t hold.
Fourthly, Joshua and his wife share hobbies. He relaxes by watching Chelsea FC thrash everyone else, while his wife relaxes by watching Rom Coms. Joshua taught his wife everything about soccer, while she taught him everything about why rom-coms are not cringe-worthy. Now they both enjoy being part of each other’s hobbies. This has helped them spend more time together as friends who really enjoy each other’s company. She’s a Chelsea FC Stan now and can converse in fluent “Soccer-nese”, while Joshua really, REALLY enjoys rom-coms.
Finally, Joshua loves his wife. He loves everything about her. He does not want to not have this much access into her personal space. So he is going to do everything in his power to make sure he does not lock himself out just because of lust. She’s worth more to him than a cheap thrill.
