A Nigerian man who used to pay tithe regularly has come forward to share his personal experience and what transpired after he stopped making these religious financial contributions.
According to the young man, he had always believed that paying tithe to God through the church was the key to receiving divine blessings and financial breakthroughs. This belief was deeply ingrained in him, as he had been taught from an early age that tithing was a biblical principle that guaranteed God's favor and provision.
However, at a certain point in his life, he began to question this long-held belief. He decided to stop paying tithe and even refrained from giving offerings in church, wanting to challenge his faith and see if his financial situation would deteriorate without these religious practices.
In a video he shared on TikTok, the young man, identified as Itzchrisisikwei, recounted his experience, revealing that instead of facing financial struggles, he actually witnessed significant financial growth after he stopped offering and tithing. Contrary to his expectations, his financial situation improved, leading him to reassess his understanding of giving in the church.
He has since used his personal journey as a basis to advise other believers, urging them to reconsider the necessity of tithing. According to him, paying tithe is not a guarantee of God's blessings, and people should not feel compelled to give under the assumption that financial prosperity is tied to their contributions to the church.
Sharing his thoughts, he said:
“So there is a door I have left. And that is the door of religion. There was a time in my life I was being exploited all in the name of loving God. They used every way to get money from us. They made it look as though God is in a transactional business with us. So one fateful night, I was angry. Meanwhile, I have given everything I had and nothing was coming forth. I wasn’t seeing anything.”
“So what they said in the Bible wasn’t applicable in my own situation? So I asked myself one question: if my earthly father could afford everything I have, expecting nothing from me, how much more my heavenly father? But I chose that day to fight my beliefs. I said I was going to go to church, but I will not pay tithe, I will not pay offering, nothing. From that day I took that life-changing decision to now, there has been an exponential growth in my life, including my finances.”
