The account was posted anonymously on the popular social media platform, X, formerly known as Twitter. The man’s revelations have raised eyebrows and sparked discussions about the alarming rise of drug use and its consequences among the youth in Nigeria.

For illustration purpose.

The man recounted the incident, detailing how the two women began experiencing severe mental health issues after joining his friend in using the drugs he took regularly. “I’m texting regarding this, I have to respect my guys, please keep me anonymous. My friend’s side chick went mad in his house two months ago because she joined him and his other friends in taking what he was taking,” he explained.

“Then, just two weeks ago, his main girlfriend went mad as well from using the same drugs. Both were admitted to a psychiatric hospital, and I even contributed money for their treatment. Thankfully, they’ve fully recovered, but the relationship fell apart because the girl’s parents now see him as a bad influence,” he continued, reflecting on how quickly circumstances changed from partying to a dire situation requiring medical intervention.

He further explained that after the incident, he and others had to raise funds for their hospital treatment, emphasizing the community aspect of support in such crises. The unfortunate events not only damaged the relationship but also led to the parents of the main girlfriend now viewing his friend negatively, adding further strain to an already challenging situation.

Adding to his account, he shared another cautionary tale, saying, “I also have a friend who made $300,000 in 2022 from internet fraud. Now, he’s broke, even asking me to buy his last car at a giveaway price.” He highlighted the harsh reality of how drug use can lead to the squandering of wealth and relationships, noting, “That’s all he has left, as drugs consumed most of his money. The drug issue in Nigeria isn’t discussed enough.”

After the post, concerned individuals flooded the comment section, sharing their thoughts and concerns about the rising drug issues in the country, which often go unaddressed in public discussions and media. Many users recounted personal experiences or observations that echoed the man’s story, underscoring the prevalence of drug-related problems in society.
