According to his narrative, the incident occurred on his very first day at work. He explained that his African supervisor initiated a conversation, asking him about his educational and professional background. In response, the man revealed that he was studying for a master’s degree in cybersecurity and working as a cleaner temporarily to make ends meet while searching for a job in his field.

However, the conversation took an unexpected turn when the supervisor reported the information to the manager. Shortly after, the manager approached the man and expressed doubts about his ability to handle the cleaning job. Without much explanation, the manager decided to terminate his employment on the spot.

In his social media post, the man recounted the experience in his own words: “I was working as a cleaner one time. On my first day, the woman (African) supervising me asked about my background.”

“I told her I was doing my Master’s in cybersecurity and only working as a cleaner temporarily before finding a job in my field. She reported me to the Manager straight away.”

He continued, “The manager came looking for me and told me she doesn’t think I can do the job. In the end, they chased me away 😂😂 We are killing ourselves as Africans.”

The post quickly gained traction on social media, with many users expressing their opinions and sharing similar experiences in the comments section. Some users empathized with him, while others criticized his approach to discussing the job.

@De_andersons: “Same here, when I first came and was doing warehouse, told my supervisor I am CCNA certified and an IT specialist and that I am still looking for job, the next day them sack me 😂. That was the first lesson I learned.”

@jhaystrong: “Maybe African woman don dey the job for years, then the ‘main time’ disturbed her peace.”

@thejaymizy: “The fact that you don’t see that you were the problem in this scenario is shocking to me. You thought it was okay to belittle a job that was your means, and you also thought it necessary to explain that if you had a choice, you wouldn’t do that job lol.”

@Malbuild: “That must have hurt her, though, because that is what she does to earn a living here. But I believe you were simply expressing yourself freely.”

@ebalheem: “I swear you gentle oooo, me before I leave will make sure I slap the hell out of that African woman. She go chop two slap and nothing go happen.”

@jerrywhyte: “Know of someone who moved from B4 to B7 in 9 months because the line manager during a conversation discovered he had so much to offer and supported him until he left for another department.”
