"My friend started an interesting talking stage few weeks back, this man legit stopped talking to her when he found out that her ex was a yahoo boy🤣," she wrote.

The tweet garnered various reactions from netizens, with opinions divided. Some individuals saw no issue with dating someone who had been involved with a Yahoo boy in the past, while others praised the man for avoiding a potentially problematic situation. One Twitter user, @wizzyesq, expressed the view that associating with fraudsters should be considered an accomplice to their crimes. On the other hand, @ogwogwuo suggested that the man should search for a "saint" or a girl who doesn't require financial support, implying that some men desire a partner solely for domestic and sexual purposes without financial obligations.

Another user, @iameniolamyde, stated that it was a valid reason to reject someone if they were comfortable dating a thief, emphasizing the moral implications of such a choice. However, @itransceend pointed out that both men and women can be involved with Yahoo boys, and if the attraction was solely based on the lifestyle they provided, it could be understood. They advised everyone to pray for guidance in decision-making and implied that some comments may be exaggerated or insincere.

The reactions to the situation demonstrated a range of perspectives on the significance of a person's past relationship with a cyber fraudster, highlighting the varying opinions and moral judgments surrounding such circumstances.
