A 39-year-old man identified as Sunday Orishagbemi died on Friday from stab wounds he sustained while trying to resolve a fight between two men over urination in Zango Daji Quarters, located in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
According to the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Ayah, the incident began when a friend of the deceased, who worked as a vulcanizer at Ganaja junction in Lokoja, stopped to urinate near a building belonging to a resident of the quarters. The owner of the building objected to this, and an argument ensued between them.
In an attempt to settle the disagreement between his friend and the building owner's son, the deceased intervened. Unfortunately, the building owner's son allegedly took out a knife and fatally stabbed Orishagbemi in the process.
The suspect has been apprehended by the police for investigation, and SP Ayah has promised that the suspect will be charged to court once the investigation is concluded.
