A Nigerian man has called out a shoe vendor on social media after she failed to deliver his order of shoes worth ₦38,500, offering excuses and eventually refunding his money only after he publicly shared his experience. The man took to his X (formerly Twitter) page to recount the entire ordeal, which began when he ordered a pair of shoes from the vendor for ₦38,500, only to be told that the vendor had closed for the year and would not resume operations until the following month.
After making the payment, the man was informed that the vendor would be unavailable until the 16th of the next month due to a supposed closure for the year. This, despite the fact that he had already paid for the shoes. The vendor’s failure to deliver within the promised timeframe left the man frustrated, as repeated follow-ups, including messages on WhatsApp, were met with various excuses.
With the urgency of his need for the shoes, the young man had no choice but to purchase the same pair from another vendor. He then requested a refund from the original vendor, but received more excuses in return, further adding to his frustration. As his efforts to get a refund were ignored, he took to social media to share his story.
In a post, the man explained the series of events: "On December 29th, I made an urgent purchase from @ps_wears, which she promised to deliver by the next day. The following day, however, she tweeted that she was closed for the year and wouldn’t resume until the 16th of the following month."
"After my Twitter account was restricted for seven days, I resorted to asking her on WhatsApp if my order would be affected since I had already paid before the tweet. To my surprise, I received no response."
"After several days of no reply, I messaged her on Instagram, requesting a refund since I had already bought the shoes elsewhere. She responded by saying she needed to verify whether my order had been shipped and asked for more time."
"I was forced to purchase another pair at the Arena Army shopping complex in Oshodi, where I found many vendors eager to do business. I don’t know who told @ps_wears that the market was closed and that nothing could be shipped out."
"After her response, I explained that I urgently needed the shoes for my seminar presentation on the 10th of the month, but I still received no reply. I then kindly informed her in a direct message that I had already bought another pair and would like a refund as soon as she resumed sales. Unfortunately, there was no further response."
"By January 16th, I was still waiting. She continued to ask for more time to verify something as simple as whether the shoes had been sent, which seemed unreasonable given that the delay had already been significant."
Finally, the man confirmed that the vendor had refunded the money. He wrote, "She has refunded the money."
