A Nigerian man has taken to social media to express his heartbreak and anger after his sister tragically passed away. He alleges that Nigerian doctors discouraged him and her husband from seeking foreign medical treatment, claiming they could handle her condition locally. The man also disclosed that over ₦29 million was spent on her treatment within a year, yet she still lost her life.
In a lengthy and emotional post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the grieving man recounted how he had planned to fly his sister to Israel for specialized treatment. However, the Nigerian doctors intervened, assuring the family that the situation was manageable in the country. Trusting their expertise, they agreed to proceed with the treatment locally, a decision he now deeply regrets.
The man wrote, “I wanted to take my sister out of Nigeria to Israel for proper treatment, but these doctors pulled the husband aside and said they could handle it, no need to travel abroad. I did everything possible, but her husband trusted the doctors, and now she is dead.”
He further lamented the large amount of money paid to the doctors while his sister’s health continued to decline. He stated, “All the doctors who handled my sister collected over ₦29 million in just one year. I will go after every single one of them. If Nigeria doesn’t hold doctors accountable, I will start with these bastards. You can’t play with someone’s life.”
In his post, he also condemned the state of the Nigerian healthcare system, alleging unethical practices by some medical professionals. He wrote, “One day, we will expose the evil that Nigerian doctors commit—killing their patients for money. They don’t care about their well-being; they just exploit them for every penny they can get until they are dead. Then they move on to the next victim.”
