The employer, identified as Ojiako Kenechukwu, took to his Twitter page to narrate the incident, revealing that the employee made an unusual request shortly after being hired.

According to Ojiako, the new staff approached him and asked if he had an old iPhone he no longer used, suggesting that he could give it to him.

The employer found this request inappropriate and immediately decided to terminate the employee’s contract, stating that such a request was unacceptable.

He wrote;

“Employed a staff yesterday….E never reach 24 hours…Next thing is ‘Sir, is there any iPhone you don’t use that you can give to me?’ Well, just like that, work has been terminated.”

His post quickly went viral, sparking mixed reactions from social media users, with many calling him out for what they perceived as an overreaction.

Some users criticized him for being too harsh, arguing that the employee’s request, while unprofessional, did not warrant immediate dismissal.

@Numero_uno:Wetin poor man dey see for Naija pass wetin Israelites see for Egypt.”

@Ololade:I even bought a Lexus for my new staff. Learn to do things with love. It doesn’t take away anything from you as the boss.”

@Isreal_usulor:That’s not enough reason to sack someone.”

@Abazz:It’s a lie, nobody can sack someone because of that.”

@Fowobi of Lagos:Only if men were God.”

The debate over the incident continues online, with some supporting the employer's decision, while others insist that he should have handled the situation with more patience and understanding.
