A man has been caught deliberately bending his hand to mimic a person with special needs in order to beg for money.
This incident came to light after a post was shared on the popular social media platform, X (formerly Twitter).
In the video, voices could be heard shouting loudly in Ijeka Market after the man’s deception was uncovered. The man had been posing as a disabled person, bending his hand in an exaggerated way to garner sympathy from passersby. However, his trick was exposed when a passerby gave him some money, and in the process of receiving it, he inadvertently stretched out his hand — the very hand he had been keeping bent to appear disabled. This accidental movement revealed his deceitful behavior to those around him.
The video was captioned: “He was given money and had to normalize his hand… Poverty can make someone do the undo.” This caption highlighted the unfortunate lengths some individuals might go to in order to survive or make money. The person who shared the video also added in the comment section, “He’s been extorting money from people daily. He has deceived so many and collected a lot of money.” The man’s actions have now come under scrutiny after the video gained significant traction online.
