A lecturer at the Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Dr. Ichor Tersagh, has been arrested by the Benue State Police Command on allegations of orchestrating the abduction of his colleague’s wife, Mrs. Susan Anyagh. The incident was confirmed by the police spokesperson, Catherine Anene, in a statement issued on Thursday.
The victim, Mrs. Anyagh, was kidnapped last Saturday while traveling along Otukpo Road, Makurdi. Reports indicate that a group of armed men ambushed her vehicle, taking her hostage and ransacking her car, where they found and stole the sum of N1.3 million. The kidnappers reportedly assaulted her severely, leaving her unconscious, before abandoning her on a remote bush path.
Following the attack, Mrs. Anyagh was later discovered along Yandev-Ugbema Road by passers-by. She was immediately transported to the Primary Healthcare Clinic in Ameladu for medical treatment due to the severe injuries she sustained during the ordeal.
After regaining consciousness, Mrs. Anyagh recounted the chilling details of the kidnapping. She revealed that, during the abduction, she saw her husband’s colleague, Dr. Tersagh, in close proximity to the scene. She attempted to call out to him for help, but, in a shocking turn of events, he reportedly ignored her cries and walked away, leaving her to the mercy of the kidnappers.
The police have since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the abduction and the possible involvement of Dr. Tersagh. The lecturer has been taken into custody and is currently being questioned in connection with the crime, as the authorities work to uncover the full extent of his role in the incident. As the investigation continues, residents of Makurdi remain in shock over the unsettling turn of events, as the case continues to unfold.
