One member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who was an eligible voter at the Oba's compound polling unit in Ijegun, Alimosho, Lagos state, has expressed his outrage on social media after being assaulted by thugs while attempting to vote.
The victim claimed that the assailants stormed the polling unit and chased away all non-Yoruba voters, which he was a part of. He posted pictures of his severely injured head and leg on social media, and also revealed that police officers were observing while he was being beaten.
Despite being a member of the APC and presenting his membership certificate to the thugs, the victim claimed that his card couldn't save him from being attacked. He further disclosed that he held his ground and attempted to fight the thugs alone while others fled, but was eventually overpowered and injured.
The victim, however, expressed satisfaction with the fact that he was still able to cast his vote after the aggressive altercation. He added that all his cards are always in his wallet and that the incident happened despite being a registered APC member.
The victim's social media post read, "Yoruba men came to the PU at Oba's compound, Ijegun, Alimosho and chased all non-Yorubas away. My APC membership card couldn't save me. They messed up my head and leg. Men of NPF were watching the fight. All my cards are always in my wallet. All the half-men scrammed. I stood my ground, fought, got injured, but still voted!"
