A Nigerian lady identified as Amaka has taken to social media to celebrate her first anniversary with her partner, whom she met during the last AFCON semi-finals.
Amaka shared her heartwarming love story on her X page, marking one year since she found love in the most unexpected way—during the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) match between Nigeria and South Africa.
In her post, she reminisced about how she had taken to social media after Nigeria’s victory over South Africa to engage with netizens in a celebratory mood.
She explained that she had tweeted an open invitation for people to ask her anything, in the spirit of the Super Eagles’ thrilling win that secured their spot in the AFCON finals.
Unexpectedly, her now-boyfriend responded to the tweet—not with a question, but with a bold request for her number. That moment turned out to be the beginning of a beautiful journey that has now lasted for a full year.
She further revealed that prior to meeting her partner, she had not been in a serious relationship since 2016, adding that finding true love had been difficult for her.
Reflecting on their relationship, she described the past year as one filled with a mix of emotions, including joy, grief, laughter, loss, peace, magic, and unwavering love.
In her heartfelt message, Amaka expressed gratitude for her partner, stating:
“One year ago, Nigeria won SA at the AFCON semifinals & I made this tweet that brought me the love of my life. ❤️”
“365 days later, we have been through joy, grief, laughter, loss, peace, magic, distance, and full-blown love. I’m so grateful to know and hold such a precious heart, and I promise to tend to it till my last breath.”
Her story has since gone viral, with many netizens celebrating their love and congratulating her on finding happiness in such an unexpected moment.
