A Nigerian lady has shared her story about being single at 31 and called out society for shaming single women who are 30 years old and above. According to her story, she had been in a relationship with her boyfriend for over 5 years and he treated her nicely, even though he was out of the country. He suggested that she move into his apartment and he got her a shop while she waited for her NYSC program. After that, they started building his house and she was in charge of his finances because he did not trust his family. They finished the house in 8 months and moved in, but rented out the back flat. Soon after, a lady and her family moved in and her boyfriend started dating the lady. He broke up with her, saying that he did not love her anymore and that meeting the other lady was an eye-opener for him. The lady is now 31 and single, but she advises society to stop shaming women who are 30+ and single, as everyone has their own story. She also revealed that she was depressed for over a year and had to take antidepressants after the breakup. It took her 18 months to even give her number to another man. She added that nobody plans to be over 30 and unmarried and that people should try to walk in other people's shoes before bashing them for their choices.
She shared her story on social media, along with some pictures, and expressed her thoughts on the issue. She revealed that she started dating her ex-boyfriend when she was 20 and he was her second boyfriend, as her first had molested her. She never had a school boyfriend and her whole life revolved around her ex-boyfriend. After graduation, he asked her to move in with him, even though he was out of the country at the time. She stayed at his place and had a shop that he opened for her while she waited for NYSC. They started building his house and she was in charge of his finances because he did not trust his family. They finished the house in 8 months and moved in, but rented out the back flat to a lady and her family. Her boyfriend started dating the lady and eventually broke up with her, saying that he did not love her anymore and that meeting the other lady was an eye-opener for him. She spent three days in the hospital and a week after she was discharged, her ex-boyfriend came to her sister's house to collect his shop keys and gave them to the other lady's mother. She was depressed for over a year and it took her 18 months to even give her number to another man. She is now 31 and still single, but she advises society to stop shaming single women who are 30+ years old as everyone has their own story.
