A heartbreaking tragedy has unfolded as a pregnant woman lost her life following a week-long labor ordeal caused by her husband’s refusal to take her to the hospital.
This devastating incident was brought to light on Facebook by a user identified as Jane Àríké Francis, who shared that the deceased woman was her neighbor. According to the account, the woman had been in excruciating labor for days, yet her husband adamantly refused to seek professional medical care, insisting that she had delivered her previous children at home without any issues.
Despite her worsening condition, the husband persisted in his decision, ignoring advice from others. It was only after the woman’s condition became unbearable that she was finally taken to the hospital. Upon arrival, medical personnel determined that she required an emergency C-section due to complications. Although the surgery was carried out, the baby, sadly, could not be saved.
Jane’s post further revealed the harrowing outcome: “I just lost a neighbor this afternoon, and I feel really traumatized about it because this was such an avoidable death. This woman had been in labor for a week. She gave birth to her first and second children at home, but for this one, the midwife said she needed to be operated on, seeing that she couldn’t deliver on her own. However, her husband refused and said, ‘This isn’t her first time giving birth on her own.’ So, he left her at home.”
She continued, “On Wednesday, when she couldn’t bear the pain any longer, they finally took her to the hospital for the C-section, which was successful, but unfortunately, the child was already dead. Today, she passed away too.”
The death of the woman a week after the procedure has sparked widespread grief and condemnation online, with many expressing outrage at the husband’s decision and the preventable nature of the tragedy.
