A Kenyan woman, Patience Cherotich, has been arrested and charged in court for allegedly setting her ex-boyfriend's house on fire, causing property damage worth Sh120,000. The incident occurred on August 10, 2023, in Kasarani, Nairobi. Cherotich and the complainant, Benjamin Obeten, had a previous romantic relationship but had broken up. She visited his house, and after causing chaos and allegedly threatening him, she was forced out. However, Obeten allowed her back into the house later that night. In the morning, she requested a taxi fare, received it, and left. Moments later, Obeten discovered the house was on fire. Cherotich was arrested, denied the charges, and was granted bail of Sh200,000 with a surety. The case is scheduled for mention on November 14, 2023, with the trial set for April 12, 2024.
