A Nigerian man living in Italy has been arrested after purchasing a luxurious house worth €400,000 despite having no stable job, sparking an intense investigation by local authorities.
The incident was narrated in a viral video shared on TikTok, where a man explained the sequence of events that led to the Nigerian's arrest.
According to the narrator, the Nigerian man arrived in Italy in 2016 and had only worked for a total of eight months since his arrival. Despite this short employment history, he was able to afford a high-value property, which raised suspicions among authorities.
Shortly after the property purchase, Italian law enforcement officials apprehended him and launched an extensive investigation into his financial records. When interrogated, he initially claimed that the money used to purchase the house came from his job.
However, after thoroughly reviewing his employment records, authorities discovered that he had only been formally employed for eight months over the past several years, making it impossible for him to have legally accumulated such wealth.
Further investigations revealed that he was allegedly involved in internet fraud, commonly referred to as “Yahoo Yahoo.” This revelation led to his immediate detention as authorities sought to trace the origin of his funds.
The TikTok narrator explained: “He arrived in Italy in 2016, and after checking his employment history, the authorities discovered he had only worked for eight months.”
