Jeff Bezos, the renowned billionaire and founder of Amazon, has reportedly resumed construction on his impressive $175 million residence following his recent engagement to his long-time girlfriend, Lauren Sánchez, with whom he has been in a relationship for five years.
According to a report from the Daily Mail on Thursday, May 25, workers are currently focusing on the roof of the sprawling three-story mega-mansion, which is situated in the prestigious Beverly Hills area of California.
Bezos, whose net worth stands at an astounding $138 billion, acquired the 10-acre estate in early 2020, which was previously owned by former Warner Bros. president, Jack Warner.
The lavish 28,000-square-foot property comprises the main house, a guesthouse, a gym, a pergola, and a separate house dedicated to security purposes.
In light of his engagement to Sánchez, Bezos has plans to expand the estate even further, including the addition of a new pool house, a powder room, and retaining walls.
Bezos proposed to his Emmy Award-winning journalist girlfriend aboard his extraordinary $500 million superyacht, Koru, during their visit to the South of France for the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.
This news comes shortly after the couple was spotted engaging in affectionate displays, including kissing and cuddling, while aboard the luxurious superyacht over the weekend.
Sanchez, aged 53, was also seen wearing a stunning engagement ring adorned with a sizable diamond, thus confirming her acceptance of Bezos' proposal.
The couple publicly revealed their relationship in January 2019, shortly after Bezos finalized his divorce from MacKenzie Scott, his partner of 25 years, with whom he shares four children.
During that same period, Sánchez, a former co-host of Good Day LA, was also going through her own divorce from her husband of 13 years, Patrick Whitesell.
Sánchez has two children with Whitesell and also has a son from a previous relationship with former NFL star Tony Gonzalez.
