Nigerian musician, Iyanya, who went on a lunch date and boat cruise with a lady named Florence after Davido's Timeless concert, has addressed the negative comments from social media users criticizing him for not considering Florence's boyfriend.
Iyanya explained on Tuesday, May 2nd, that Florence was depressed because one of her close relatives was battling cancer, and he only wanted to put a smile on her face. He shared photos and emphasized that he only met her on the boat, and there was no ulterior motive.
According to Iyanya, he sighted Florence at Davido's Timeless concert, and after tweeting about her beautiful smile, she reached out to him. When he learned about her situation, he felt that it would be nice to give her a treat in Lagos. Therefore, he had his team contact her and make plans for her to come to Lagos so he could help make her happy.
Iyanya further explained that when Florence arrived in Lagos on Saturday, he was not in Lagos as he had events in Calabar and PH respectively. However, he made sure his team got her the best accommodation and took her on a boat cruise. He also got her a brand new iPhone to help her achieve her dreams of becoming an influencer.
Iyanya stated that he didn't bring Florence to Lagos for any other agenda but to make sure she was happy after all she's been through. He thanked his supporters and asked them to keep supporting the movement.
