The Head of Corporate Communications at Innoson Group, Cornel Osigwe, has raised concerns regarding the accusations against Mmesoma Ejikeme, who has been accused of falsifying her result as the top scorer in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) released a statement claiming that Ejikeme, who was declared the best UTME student in Anambra State, actually scored 249 and not 362 as previously reported.
In response to these allegations, Cornel Osigwe, who had the opportunity to meet Ejikeme and present her with a N3 million scholarship for her outstanding performance, disagrees with the claims. He asserts that Ejikeme lacks the knowledge and ability to manipulate her exam result and emphasizes her academic excellence, which has been confirmed by her school.
Taking to his official Twitter handle, @cornelosigwe, Osigwe expressed his opinion, stating, "The girl I met doesn't have the brain and capacity to manipulate her result. There is more to this story. A proper investigation needs to be done. Abeg let the poor breathe." He further highlighted that Ejikeme was regarded as one of the most brilliant students in her school, according to the principal. Additionally, he mentioned that Ejikeme's parents couldn't even afford to pay for her West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and National Examinations Council (NECO) exams. Osigwe questioned the motive behind manipulating her JAMB score, as it would not provide any advantage to her, emphasizing the need to let those less privileged have a fair chance.
