The video, originally uploaded by a media outlet, shows Pastor Korede Komaiya making the contentious statement in a sermon. In the footage, Pastor Komaiya preached to his congregation, advising them to pay their first fruits offering as soon as the new year begins.

The pastor emphasized that this offering should take precedence over all other financial obligations, including paying school fees, eating, purchasing a new car, or undertaking any other major financial decision. In his own words: “It is first thing first, immediately you do, before you pay school fees, before you eat, before you change your vehicle, before you renovate your house, before you reinvest in your business.”

After watching the video, an influencer took to his page to voice his strong criticism, calling the pastor a “hungry thief” for promoting such a sermon. The influencer, in his post, wrote, “My friend, will you keep quiet? Hungry thief! You’ll be the first fruit of hellfire. These clowns keep twisting scripture to feed their bellies.”
