The Lagos State Government, through its Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), has taken swift action by arresting Mrs. Stella Nwadigo, a female teacher from Christ-Mitots School in Ikorodu, following public outrage over a viral video. The video depicted the teacher maltreating a 3-year-old boy named Abayomi Michael during a writing lesson.
In the footage, which was recorded by an anonymous individual, Mrs. Nwadigo is seen slapping and shouting at the young child while he struggled to write the numeral “6.” The video quickly went viral on social media, sparking widespread condemnation from Nigerians and child rights advocates alike.
The incident prompted the intervention of the DSVA, which ensured the teacher’s immediate arrest. The Lagos State Government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting children from abuse, ensuring justice for the victim, and preventing similar occurrences in the future.
In a statement addressing the situation, the DSVA emphasized the importance of creating safe, nurturing, and protective environments within educational institutions. The agency assured the public that an investigation into the matter has commenced, with strict measures being implemented to hold offenders accountable.

“We appreciate everyone who brought the disturbing incident of a teacher who was recorded physically abusing a 3-year-old boy to our attention.
“We are pleased to inform the public that the teacher in question has been arrested by Owutu FSU, and an investigation has commenced in earnest. Indeed, institutions of learning should be safe, warm, and protective environments for all children in their care.
“The State Government remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of every child by enforcing strict regulations, holding offenders accountable, and working with stakeholders to promote a zero-tolerance policy for abuse in any form.”
