A Nigerian man, Aderoju Dave Adewuyi, has claimed that wives are responsible for their husbands sleeping with their housemaids, in response to a Facebook user who criticized men for having extramarital affairs with their housegirls.
The Facebook user wrote, “Stop sleeping with your housegirl. Each day you climb that girl, you reduce your wife’s worth, value and respect.”
In response, Adewuyi argued that women should take responsibility for their husband’s infidelity because many wives frequently complain about not being in the mood for sex. He went on to say that if sex workers can sleep with multiple men in a day and satisfy all of them, then wives have no excuse not to sexually satisfy their husbands in bed.
“LISTEN EVERYONE. I AM VERY SORRY FOR THIS COMMENT BUT THAT IS THE TRUTH. IF A HOUSEWIFE VALUES HERSELF, SHE WILL BE VALUED. BUT MANY OF THEM DO NOT VALUE THEMSELVES AT ALL. FOR EXAMPLE, WHAT IS THE MEANING OF 'I AM NOT IN THE MOOD?' IN MARRIAGE? IF 'ASHAWO' [slang for sex worker] CAN SATISFY TEN MEN IN A DAY, YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE. SO, GET OUT OF THAT MARRIAGE FOR THE HOUSE HELP THAT IS READY TO TAKE OVER FROM YOU. LET NO LADY COME AFTER ME, BECAUSE I WILL SHOCK YOU,”
He then posted two images, which appear to be from a WhatsApp conversation, where he continued to defend his position.
