The Department of State Services (DSS) has issued a denial regarding the arrest and custody of Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). After President Bola Tinubu announced Emefiele's suspension, rumors circulated that he had been arrested by DSS operatives for questioning. However, the DSS took to Twitter on Saturday to clarify that Emefiele is currently not in their custody. The tweet explicitly states, "Currently, Emefiele is not with the DSS." Emefiele's suspension came as a result of an ongoing investigation into his office and the planned reforms in the country's financial sector. In the wake of his suspension, Mr. Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi was swiftly appointed as the acting Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
