The anti-cultism unit of the Osun State Police Command took action and apprehended a cow believed to be connected to cultists in Osogbo. The arrest occurred in response to a tip-off provided by residents of the Egbatedo area, who noticed the gathering of cult members from various parts of the state. The gathering was reportedly organized in preparation for the annual Cultists Day celebration on July 7th.
Upon the arrival of the police, the suspected cult members fled the scene, abandoning the cow. The cow, which bore the inscription “Oroki” and was marked with an axe symbol, was subsequently seized and taken into police custody.
SP Yemisi Opalola, the spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, confirmed the incident on Saturday, stating, “After intelligence revealed plans by a particular cult to celebrate the 7/7 festival, the CP ordered operatives to ensure that the plan by these cultists fail.”
“The operatives, working in line with that directive, combed every part of the state and went to Egbatedo, a suburb of Osogbo. When the suspects saw them, they fled, but the cow they planned to use for the celebration was seized. We want to assure people of the state that the command will continue to work hard to keep the state very safe,” added the PPRO.
