Rebecca Oyedotun, a 28-year-old Nigerian woman, tragically passed away a day before her scheduled wedding. Rebecca and her soon-to-be-husband, Abiodun Oluwadamilare, had planned to marry on August 19, 2023, in Ogbomosho, Oyo State. However, she passed away at the hospital on August 20.
According to reports, Rebecca, a graduate of the Federal University of Technology (FUT) in Minna, was celebrating her bridal shower with friends on August 18 when the tragic incident occurred. At 10:30 p.m. during the celebration, she collapsed.
She was rushed to the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso, where medical professionals managed to resuscitate her. Unfortunately, her condition did not improve, and she eventually passed away in the early hours of Sunday.
A sister-in-law of the deceased shared that all preparations for the wedding had been completed by Friday. Friends and family had gathered to celebrate the occasion, and even the groom's family had traveled from Abeokuta for the event. They had slaughtered a cow in Ogbomoso, as Abiodun is their only child. However, tragedy struck unexpectedly.
"We had bought ewedu to be used, ingredients had been ground, and in the morning of Saturday, amala (yam flour paste) was made, rice was ready, the venues were set, but the ceremony was never held as the bride was never available," the sister-in-law added.
